High-Voltage (5-V pp ) Driver Monolithically Integrated with Thermally Tunable Optical Ring Resonators in a Silicon Photonics Technology

IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems (ICECS), pp. 1–4

Abstract

In this article we present a four channel High Voltage Driver in a 250 nm SiGe BiCMOS Silicon Photonics Technology. The electronic circuit is powered by a 9 V supply and can generate output voltage swings up to 5 V (3.5 V to 8.5 V), depending on the load resistance, and sink up to 44 mA of current. This current is used to control thermally tunable hourglass-shaped on-chip ring resonators. The photonic part incorporates an optical add-drop multiplexer (OADM), which consists of a single ring and a coupled resonator optical waveguide (CROW), which consists of a series connection of three rings. All four rings are individually tunable.
