The Gospels on Trial
Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research)
Abstract
With this article, I continue my series, in which I examine how historians can test what took place in the past. Earlier parts looked at the title Son of Man (Beau, 2026b) and at the historical case for the crucifixion (Beau, 2026a). This time, the focus is on the four Gospels. We will examine whether the Gospels meet the criteria historians use to assess other historical sources. That question matters because few texts have had as much influence on our history and on the lives of billions of people worldwide as the Gospels.
