Standardising Epigenetic Data Analysis: A Prerequisite for Regulatory Uptake in Environmental Risk Assessment
Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research)
Abstract
Recent advances in sequencing technologies have enabled the rapid generation of epigenomic datasets across ecotoxicologically relevant species. DNA methylation, histone modifications, and non-coding RNAs are increasingly investigated as potential biomarkers for environmental monitoring and next-generation environmental risk assessment (NGERA). However, the limited availability of standardized bioinformatic workflows currently represents one of the largest barriers to reproducibility, comparability, and regulatory acceptance of epigenetic evidence.
