Abstract
# Simulation data for "Sparse entropic quadrature for moment equations" This repository contains simulation data for the preprint "Sparse entropic quadrature for moment equations" by G. Oblapenko, M. Torrilhon, M. Herty. The data has been produced by the [SPEcQK.jl](https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.20026361) solver, v0.2.0; the reproducibility repository containing simulation setups used to produce the data, as well as plotting scripts, can be found [on Github](https://github.com/knstmrd/reproducibility-2026-sparse-entropic-for-moment) and Zenodo. ## Data structure The data is written as HDF5 files containing computed moments, computed parameters of the local Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution, and additional diagnostic data (such as values of the flux limiter Phi, if used). The `.log` files contain the computed degree of sparsity in the solution, and the markdown tables contain averaged sparsity degrees over all the different simulations for certain fixed parameters. The `sod` directory contains data for the Sod shock tube test case, the `couette` directory contains data for the Couette flow test case. `dvm` directories contain the reference DVM solutions, `upwind` corresponding to the upwinding scheme and `global` to the Lax-Friedrichs scheme. `m2`, `m4`, `m6` contain the moment method-based solutions with different numbers of moment constraints: all moments up to total order 2/4/6 preserved, correspondingly. `upwind_lw` denotes the Lax-Wendroff scheme, `lf` the Lax-Friedrichs scheme. ## Naming examples `sod_0.002_6_400_21_0.0001_upwind_lw_1.0.h5` - reference viscosity of `0.002`, moments conserved up to total order `6`, `400` grid cells, `21` velocity node, sparsity parameter value of `0.0001`, Lax-Wendroff scheme, BGK term scaled with multiplier `1.0` (a multiplier of `0.0` corresponds to the collisionless case). `couette_0.3_4_50_16_0.0_lf.h5` - reference viscosity of `0.3`, moments conserved up to total order `4`, `50` grid cells, `16` velocity nodes, sparsity parameter value of `0.0`, Lax-Friedrichs scheme.
