The Contexts That Bind Us: Networks, Multiplexity, and Embeddedness in Institutional Domains

Abstract

Using the CBS Person Network linked to the Social Cohesion and Well-being Survey (SSW), this master thesis examines how the organisation of social ties across institutional domains relates to generalised trust. Its main methodological contribution is a measure of multiplexity that accounts for administrative overlap between network layers, alongside participation evenness, which captures how evenly an individual’s ties are distributed across domains.
