TRIPLE LifeDetect AstroBioLab Mass Spectrometry Function Test Data

Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research)

Abstract

Before diving into the data, please refer to the description of the LifeDetect system and the TRIPLE project. Initial functional verification of the mass-spectrometry channel was performed at breadboard level using the ESS EcoSys-P portable mass spectrometer in a temperature-controlled laboratory at FH Aachen, at approximately 22 °C. The instrument was operated over its nominal 1–200 amu mass range across 100 consecutive scan cycles. Prior to environmental-sample testing, the channel was evaluated using argon, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide reference gases. These measurements reproduced the expected peaks at their nominal m/z values and confirmed correct species assignment across the low-to mid-mass range. For an integrated end-to-end test of the headspace interface, a 3.5% NaCl aqueous matrix was subsequently analyzed, and acetone was introduced part-way through the run as a volatile test analyte. keywords: Mass Spectrometry
