Exidiopsis diversa K. Wells

Abstract

Exidiopsis diversa K. Wells, Mycologia 79: 280, 1987 Holotype. Canada • British Columbia: Princeton, Asp Creek, Populus sp., 25 May 1979, Wells 2769 (BPI 871728 – isotype, studied). Morphological and cultural descriptions of E. diversa were provided by Wells (1987). Microscopic traits (shape and size of basidia and basidiospores) put it close to Tegmenticium peritrichum although the basidiomata of E. diversa are much thinner than in the latter species, ca. 0.05 mm thick, and they lack the differentiated cystidia characteristic of T. peritrichum. This species deserves further study with the use of DNA methods.
