FAIR data implementation and assessment

Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research)

Abstract

Three hour workshop delivered as part of the DCC Spring Training Days 2026. Learning Objectives: While the Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable (FAIR) principles have been around for a decade, it is only lately that tools and workflows for implementing them have trickled down to research communities beyond dedicated projects. In this workshop we will guide you through FAIR Implementation Profiles (FIPs) as a means for research communities to declare FAIR implementation choices (e.g. metadata standard) and introduce tools for improving and assessing FAIRness of data. Contents: Two PDFs that are slide decks. Part 1: "FAIR-and-FIPs_DCC-training-2026-05-07_part1.pdf" delivered by Kristine Hettne (Leiden) as well as a breakout exercise. Part 2: "FAIR-and-FIPs_DCC-training-2026-05-07_part2.PDF" delivered by Kim Ferguson and Cees Hof (DANS) as well as a breakout exercise. Best reviewed in order. Level: Beyond introduction Audiences: research supporters and/or researchers and/or trainers
