Data processing and calibration pipeline for DESHIMA 2.0 observations on the ASTE telescope

Abstract

Microwave kinetic inductance detectors (MKIDs) enable multiplexed spectroscopy at submillimeter wavelengths. DESHIMA 2.0, an on-chip filterbank spectrometer on the 10-m ASTE telescope in Chile, is among the first instruments to demonstrate wideband MKID spectroscopy on sky. While it provides simultaneous spectra over a broad band, the data require careful processing. The responsivity and noise of individual KIDs vary between days due to atmospheric and instrumental conditions. Detector flagging, performance tracking, and calibration are essential. Atmospheric correction, responsivity normalization, and frequency alignment are required to convert raw timestreams into usable spectra or maps. In this poster, we present the DESHIMA 2.0 data-processing workflow, including detector checks, automated masking, and calibration. We show how these procedures improve the fidelity and reproducibility of the final data and discuss implications for future DESHIMA and TIFUUN observations.
