Mapping of Organizational Structures for Model-Based Systems Engineering Using an Organizational Graph

Lecture notes in production engineering, pp. 609–618

Abstract

Abstract Companies are increasingly using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) to deal with the growing complexity in product development and production and to increase efficiency and effectiveness. In particular, the organizational aspects of the transformation to model-based approaches pose challenges for companies. This paper presents a method for graph-based modeling of the interdependencies between activities, artifacts, roles and models in MBSE. Based on case studies of companies that have already successfully implemented MBSE in their organizations, an organizational graph is created. This resource description framework (RDF) graph contains the above-mentioned elements and their dependencies. It therefore provides an accessible orientation for companies looking for best practices as well as the basis for a future derivation of company-specific target organizational graphs.
