Abstract

Mnataia Prantl & Růžička, 1955 Original source Prantl & Růžička (1955b): 4 [Russian], 9 [English]. Type species Mnataia pribyli Prantl & Růžička, 1955; by original designation. Middle Devonian, Czech Republic. Gender Female. Remarks Originally placed in “a special group of pseudocyrtodont pelecypods”; questionably synonymised with Parallelodon by Newell (1969). Amler & Friedel (2025) discussed potential cyrtodontid and parallelodontid affinities, yet without conclusion. The genus and species were erected based on a single incomplete valve of 6 mm in length.
