Modern Masonry Shear-wall DataBase MoMaS-DB (2026)

Abstract
The Modern Masonry Shear-wall Database (MoMaS-DB) is a comprehensive collection of experimental results from in-plane cyclic tests on unreinforced masonry (URM) shear walls. The database compiles test data from European research projects, published literature, and laboratory investigations, covering a broad range of masonry types, geometries, material properties, loading conditions, and failure mechanisms. The database was compiled and implemented using the software MasonryCurves (SDA-solutions GmbH, 2026), which provides standardized data management, import of cyclic load–displacement curves, derivation of equivalent bilinear curves, and evaluation of drift capacities and energy dissipation characteristics. The dataset includes information on masonry units, mortar properties, wall geometry, axial load ratios, moment distribution factors, failure modes, load–displacement curves, bilinear idealizations, drift capacities, and associated test metadata. In its current version, the database contains results from 353 in-plane cyclic shear wall tests on various masonry typologies. MoMaS-DB serves as the basis for the study: Mukattash, N., Butenweg, C., Kubalski, T., and Klinkel, S. (2026). “A novel approach for the estimation of seismic drift capacity in unreinforced masonry (URM) shear walls based on governing structural parameters.” Funding The development of MoMaS-DB, including experimental investigations, database implementation, and statistical evaluation, was financially supported by the German Federation of Industrial Research Associations (AiF e.V.) and the Federal Association of the German Brick and Tile Industry (Bundesverband der Deutschen Ziegelindustrie e.V.). The database will be continuously updated as additional experimental data become available.
