NHMW-ZOO-MO-75000-E-47001, SL: 3.5 mm, MD: 2.3 mm, Lăpugiu de Sus (Romania), Figs 54C 1 –C 3. Revised description. Shell small, relatively fragile, elongate ovate, with flattened spire (SL/MD = 1.6). Last whorl inflated, ovate, apex roundly truncated (MD/ApD = 2.7), whorl profile convex below, rounded at base. Periphery placed above mid-whorl (SL/ PH = 1.5). Sculpture of regular, chain-like spiral grooves; the links small, elongated and connected. Aperture total height of shell, moderately wide in upper quarter (MD/AW = 5.5), greatly widening anteriorly (MD/MAW = 1.2), resulting in high expansion rate (ER = 4.7); outer lip rising slightly above apex to slightly below, convex below, rounded abapically. Columella much reduced, narrow. Parietal callus very narrow. Discussion. See Landau et al. (2023: 399). Paleoenvironment. The species lives from the littoral zone in its more northern distribution to the bathyal zone in its southern distribution (Gofas et al. 2011). In the Paratethys it is known from shallow and deeper water environments. Distribution in Central Paratethys. Badenian (Middle Miocene): Vienna Basin: Bad Vöslau (Austria) (Berger 1953); Pannonian Basin: Szob (Hungary) (Strausz 1966); Făget Basin: Lăpugiu de Sus (Romania) (hoc opus). Proto-Mediterranean Sea. Serravallian (Middle Miocene): Karaman Basin: Akpınar, Lale, Seyithasan (Turkey) (Landau et al. 2013). Northeastern Atlantic. Tortonian (Late Miocene): Cacela Basin (Portugal) (Landau et al. 2023). North Sea. (Burdigalian/Langhian (Middle Miocene): the Netherlands (A.W. Janssen 1984). Pliocene to present-day. From North Sea to West Africa and Mediterranean Sea (see Landau et al. 2023: 399 for details).
