Abstract

Acteocina sp. Figs 38A–B Illustrated material. NHMW 1860/0001/0346d, SL: 3.5 mm, MD: 1.9 mm, Lednice (= Eisgrub) (Czech Republic), Figs 38A 1 –A 3. NHMW 1860/0001/0346e, SL: 3.9 mm, MD: 1.8 mm, Lednice (= Eisgrub) (Czech Republic), Figs 38B 1 –B 3. Discussion. The illustrated shells are characterized by their sharply angled shoulder and nearly flat apex. The shells are reminiscent of the Badenian Retusa promamillata Boettger, 1907 but differ in their protruding and less tilted protoconch (about 140° instead of 180°) and deeply canaliculate suture, which place them in Acteocina. We refrain from describing these specimens formally as new species and speculate that the shells might be extreme morphs of Acteocina volhynica (Eichwald, 1830). Paleoenvironment. Shallow marine, inner neritic (own data M.H.). Distribution in Central Paratethys. Sarmatian (Middle Miocene): Vienna Basin: Lednice (Czech Republic) (hoc opus).
