Revised description. Shell small, glossy, moderately slender (SL/MD = ~2.2), moderately pyriform, only last whorl visible. Last whorl with short conical apical region (47–50°) passing into almost straight to weakly convex sides, forming angle of about 18–20°, with periphery below mid-whorl (SL/ PH = 2.7–2.8), rounded at moderately contracting base. Apex narrow (MD/ApD = 2.7–3.0), truncated, apical plane slightly oblique (AP = 10–12°), deeply and narrowly umbilicate, delimited by round-edged, elevated crest. Sculpture of a few, shallow spiral grooves at both extremities, rarely persisting to mid-whorl. Aperture longer than shell, very narrow just below mid-whorl (MD/AW = 8.0–10.0), widening anteriorly (MD/MAW = 1.8–2.0), resulting in high expansion rate (ER = 4.0–5.4). Outer lip thin, apically extending some distance above apex, faintly pinched inwards above periphery. Columella short, with narrow columellar callus. Columellar fold, low, weak or subobsolete. Columellar callus adherent or erect, delimiting narrow umbilical chink. Parietal callus not developed. Discussion. Pyrunculus leuchsi (Berger, 1949) is strongly reminiscent of Pyrunculus szobiensis sp. nov. concerning the changing angle between apical region and sides, but it is slenderer, the apex is narrower, and the mid-portion is less cylindrical. Pyrunculus parangistoma (Boettger, 1902) is even more conical and has a narrower apex and Pyrunculus elongatus (Eichwald, 1830) differs in its much higher and slenderer shell. Paleoenvironment. The occurrence in the Baden Formation at Bad Vöslau (Austria) suggests middle to outer neritic environments with up to 210 m water depth (Kranner et al. 2021). Distribution in Central Paratethys. Badenian (Middle Miocene): Vienna Basin: Bad Vöslau (Austria) (Berger 1953), Borský Mikuláš (Slovakia) (Švagrovský 1984).
