Abstract

Bulla inflata Eichwald, 1830 [species inquirenda] B [ulla]. inflata m.— Eichwald 1830: 214. Bulla inflata m.— Eichwald 1851: 145, pl. 11, figs 14a–c. Bulla inflata — Eichwald 1852: pl. 11, figs 14a–c. Bull [a]. inflata m.— Eichwald 1853: 304. Discussion. The illustration shows a globose shell with prominent spiral grooves and deeply excavated columella. Eichwald (1853) compared it with Roxania utriculus (Brocchi, 1814). But the apertural features are rather reminiscent of the Pliocene Mediterranean Bulla subampulla d’Orbigny, 1852. We consider this a species inquirenda. Distribution in Central Paratethys. Badenian (Middle Miocene): Polish-Ukrainian Fore-Carpathian Basin: Shushkivtsi, Zhukivtsi, (Ukraine).
