Roxania Leach 1847

Abstract

Genus Roxania Leach in Gray, 1847 Type species. Bulla cranchii Fleming, 1828; by monotypy. Present-day, British Isles. Discussion. Some Paratethyan Roxania species have been placed in the Scaphandridae genus Sabatia Bellardi, 1877 in the literature (e.g., Sabatia callifera Boettger, 1907, Sabatia callifera helvetica Berger, 1949). Sabatia, however, has a thick and tuberculated parietal callus, not smooth as in the Paratethyan species. Sabatia species have a more angulated periphery and are not rounded as in Roxania.
