Book Summary
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) - Umsetzung in Praxis, Lehre und Entscheidungsprozessen, pp. 1–20
Abstract
Zusammenfassung The research project KAHR (KlimaAnpassung, Hochwasser und Resilienz, transl.: ClimateAdaptation, Flood and Resilience) scientifically accompanied communities and regions affected by the flood disaster of July 2021 in Rhineland‐Palatinate (RP) and North Rhine‐Westphalia (NRW) for three years during their reconstruction efforts. The accompanying research, along with its findings and recommendations, is based on work related to various research subjects, questions, and requirements that have evolved throughout the project. Research activities all address the overarching question of flood‐ and climate‐resilient reconstruction and new construction. This encompasses everything from capturing and analyzing damage patterns to examining the role of bridges, as well as aspects of social vulnerability and critical and sensitive infrastructures. Within the framework of the research project, solutions relating to various Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were discussed and developed. Notably, this includes goals related to health and well‐being, strengthening industry, innovation, and infrastructure, reducing inequalities, as well as promoting sustainable cities and communities. The different chapters of this volume thus also illustrate the range of investigations and scientific consultations conducted by 13 partners in the consortium.
