Koenikea rutala Cook 1986

Abstract

Koenikea rutala Cook, 1986 Figures 2, 12C Material examined. 1/0/0 Stony Creek upstream Wallaman Falls, Girringun NP, 18°36.130 S 145°48.145 E, 549 m asl, 8-xi-2014, dissected and slide mounted (RMNH). Remarks. In regard to the dorsal shield coloration (as illustrated in Figure 12C), dorsal glandularia 3 and 4 only slightly closer to each other on their respective sides than 5 and 6 are to each other (Figure 2B), the somewhat hooked projections near IV-leg insertions (Figure 2A) and nearly terminal position of genital field at the truncate posterior margin of the ventral shield (Figure 2A), the male from Stony Creek matches the description of K. rutala. The latter species was originally described by Cook (1986) based on a single male collected in Nigger Creek in Queensland. A difference is found in glandularia 3 and 4 closer to each other than 5 and 6 but almost equal in the original description of K. rutala (see fig. 989 in Cook 1986). Distribution. Queensland
