Concluding reflections: polycentricity and legitimacy in digital governance

Information Communication & Society, pp. 1–5

Abstract

This commentary examines the concept of polycentricity historically and theoretically as a way to convey that contemporary governance is both dispersed (‘poly’) and patterned ('centricity'). The paper reviews past literature on polycentric governing, identifies the distinct contributions of the present special issue, and sets out questions for future research.
