Multievent correlation in neutron diffraction and the continued development of AIXtal

RWTH Publications (RWTH Aachen)

Abstract

This research unfurls an innovative methodology for the interpretation of neutron diffraction data at volume detectors, accompanied by the development of AIXtal v2, a newly developed software platform designed to facilitate comprehensive diffraction data analysis. The multievent correlation algorithm was demonstrated in a proof-of-concept setting to identify the intensity of secondary scatterers based on the unique physical properties of the ¹⁰Bvolume jalousie detector concept. This detector design uses stacked and inclined thin layers of¹⁰B to achieve competitive efficiency and, as proven in this thesis offers unique new analytic capabilities using the additional depth information.
