RAPIDviewer: an ImageJ Script for Visualisation and Analysis of Indexed Electron Diffraction Patterns of Cubic Materials
Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research)
Abstract
Abstract RAPIDviewer is a newly developed ImageJ macro-script that addresses the limitation of the indexing program RAPID (https://doi.org/10.1107/S1600576724010215), which enables the indexing of zone-axis electron diffraction patterns from cubic materials. RAPIDviewer generates graphical overlays on the experimental patterns, including configurable spot and Kikuchi-line drawing. Additional features include orientation sketches, inverse pole figure markers and an option for VESTA file export. Current version: 1.04 (2026-02-24) The current version of RAPIDviewer is fully compatible wth the program RAPID for ImageJ/Fiji (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18411690) and has been tested under MS Windows 11 and macOS Tahoe version 26.x. The video (recorded using an earlier version of RAPIDviewer) demonstrates the various features of the program. For testing, an example results file from RAPID for ImageJ and the corresponding electron diffraction pattern for aluminium are included. Acknowlegement: The development of the program has been carried out within Collaborative Research Centre Transregio 188: Damage Controlled Forming Processes (DFG - German Research Foundation, Project-ID 278868966).
