Abstract

Dysphaea dimidiata Selys, 1853 Selected references: Dysphaea dimidiata Selys, 1853;— Selys 1879b: 378 (first record from Sumatra: unspecified location);— Lieftinck 1935a: 4 (first record from Riau). Specimens collected. M1a: 1 ♂ (RER20 _ EUP1; RER), 19 i 2020; M1f: 1 ♂ (RER23 _ EUP1; BRIN), 16 ii 2023; 1 ♂ (RER23 _ EUP3; RER), 1 x 2023; 1 ♂ (RER23 _ EUP4; BRIN), 1 x 2023; M1l: 1 ♂ (RER23 _ EUP2; UMRI), 17 ii 2023; 1 ♂ (RER23 _ EUP5; UMRI), 4 x 2023; 1 ♀ (RER23 _ EUP6; RER), 4 x 2023. Remarks. Dysphaea dimidiata is a forest stream species and the most generalist of its genus in Sundaland. In the Kampar Peninsula it was mostly found on Simpang Sianyir and close-to-closed canopy sections of Simpang Kanan, with a single individual found on Sungai Serkap itself, in a section with trees to the water’s edge. Although the Euphaeidae are largely absent from low pH waters, D. dimidiata seems capable of thriving in such waters, Dow & Reels (2024) report it in good numbers from the closed canopy part of Sungai Maludam in Maludam National Park, Sarawak.
