Quantifying Unit-Based and Aggregated Flexibility Potentials of Electric Vehicles
IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Conference Europe (ISGT Europe), pp. 1–5
Abstract
The description and aggregation of the flexibility potential of electric vehicles are highly relevant for the provision of flexibility. In this work, a concept established in the literature for describing the flexibility of electric vehicles is used. This contains time-coupled upper and lower energy limits. Based on this definition, there is generally an overestimation or underestimation of the aggregated flexibility potential. A metric for quantifying this estimation error is presented. The overestimation and underestimation in the aggregation are analysed and mathematically described. The application of this quantification has shown, in an exemplary case study, that the overestimation of the potential for a standard parametrisation is significant, with up to 35%. In the case of underestimation, the estimation error can be kept low at a maximum of 7%.
