Voltage-Based Topology Identification in Low-Voltage Grids Using a Node-Degree-Constraint Kruskal Algorithm and Power-Based Branch Refinement
IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Conference Europe (ISGT Europe), pp. 1–5
Abstract
Digital grid models are continuously gaining importance for future operation of distribution systems, as they form the basis for both grid monitoring and planning activities. However, many distribution system operators still lack such models in sufficient quality. This paper proposes an extension of a voltage correlation-based topology identification method commonly found in the literature. The proposed approach incorporates node degree constraints during the initial graph construction phase. In a second step, the preliminary topology is validated using power measurements, and a power-based branch refinement is applied to correct erroneous node-to-branch assignments. The evaluation results show a significant improvement in reconstruction accuracy compared to conventional methods.
