A Framework for the Construction of a Structured Use Case Repository
International Conference on Power, Energy and Innovations (ICPEI), pp. 1–6
Abstract
Reverse engineering plays a pivotal role in modern software development, facilitating the extraction of software requirement specifications and design from existing systems. This research addresses challenges faced by a medium-sized energy solutions company aiming to transition from a monolithic to a microservice architecture. The research addresses the challenges of lacking architectural documentation and redundant functionalities by developing a comprehensive taxonomy of data objects and use cases. A detailed repository of use cases was created, integrating MongoDB and Elasticsearch for enhanced data management and search capabilities. The findings demonstrate the efficacy of structured documentation and advanced search capabilities in facilitating software modernization. This framework offers a valuable reference for similar transitions in other industries.
