A new paper-based approach for teaching Bragg's law

Acta Crystallographica Section E Crystallographic Communications, vol. 81, pp. 1195–1199

Abstract

A simple paper-based model is proposed, which is based on the right-angle condition for constructive inter-ference of Bragg's law. As demonstrated, the model allows visualization and basic qu-anti-fication of the geometric relationships between wavelength, lattice spacing, and diffraction angle. Moreover, it facilitates the exploration of the limiting conditions for diffraction, angular dispersion, and the role of wavelength as a factor affecting crystallographic resolution.
