Stator Inter-Turn Fault Detection and Classification in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines Using High-Frequency Voltage Injection
IEEE Annual Southern Power Electronics Conference, pp. 1–5
Abstract
Inter-turn short circuits resulting from the collapse of winding insulation are one of the most common and hazardous failures in permanent magnet synchronous machines. Online diagnosis method based on high-frequency signal injection is further improved in this paper. By injecting square-wave voltage signals with the same magnitude and two different frequencies, one after the other, and comparing the current response at these injection frequencies, the undesired impact of the neutral point shift on fault diagnosis is eliminated. In this way, not only early detection but also accurate classification of inter-turn faults is achieved.
