Test Bench for Measuring the Effects of Contact Pressure in cECG Measurements*

IFAC-PapersOnLine, vol. 58, pp. 106–110

Abstract

The paper introduces a test bench designed to assess the effects of contact pressure in capacitive electrocardiogram (cECG) measurements while minimizing other influencing factors. By employing signal quality indices, the study evaluates cECG signal quality under varying static contact pressure conditions using the proposed test bench. Experimental findings reveal that increasing contact pressure enhances signal quality in the QRS complex as well as in the baseline signal. For further examination of the impacts of contact pressure and physiological motion artifacts in cECG measurements, current limitations of the test bench are discussed, and necessary adjustments are presented.
