Fostering a natural language approach in programming education (Doctoral Consortium)
Koli Calling International Conference on Computing Education Research, pp. 1–2
Abstract
My research approaches the learning and teaching of a programming language from a natural language perspective. In particular, it focuses on code reading aspects of programming, such as reading exercises and the naming of variables, as prior research suggests these topics might not get enough dedicated attention in educational settings. Ultimately, I aim to encourage discussion among researchers and practitioners that focuses on how to include valuable training in reading code and code quality. I believe that a focus on these elements would increase the accessibility of programming for both students and teachers.
