Editorial: JALL welcomes new Editors

Journal of African Languages and Linguistics, vol. 44, pp. 127–128

Abstract

will continue to assist the Editors in their tasks.Karibu!Akwaaba!Atúuuu!Barka da zuwa!Together we will work for the realization of the vision and advancement of the mission of the founding editors of JALL.For continuity and smooth transition, Felix K. Ameka will continue as Editor-in-Chief through 2024, introducing the new team to the traditions of the JALL trade.I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many colleagues who help us to maintain the standards of JALL by refereeing for us whenever we call on them.Editors of linguistics journals will tell you how difficult it is to find referees for papers that are submitted to their journals these days. For some papers one might have to invite as many as 10 experts, sequentially of course, before they find 1 to do the review. Moreover, for JALL and other African linguistics journals, we are dealing with a small and specialized field and there may not be as many as 10 people suitable to be invited for one paper.May I appeal to all researchers in African languages and linguistics to consider accepting invitations to review papers for the journals in the field of African language studies.Let us not lose sight of the fact that editors depend on the advice of referees in order to come to a decision on the publication or otherwise of a submission.I hope African language scientists will resolve to contribute to the discipline by providing the invaluable service of refereeing. We are grateful to the many
