An Impact Factor for Neuro-Oncology Practice
Neuro-Oncology Practice, vol. 10, pp. 317
Abstract
The recent announcement of an official Impact Factor (IF) for Neuro-Oncology Practice (2.7) is great news for our journal, its readers, and its contributing authors.1 This important achievement reflects the increasing quality of the journal acknowledged by the readership of practicing healthcare professionals and the neuro-oncology community as a whole. The complementary relationship and close collaboration with Neuro-Oncology and Neuro-Oncology Advances and the expert team of Associate and Executive Editors, Editorial Board members, Managing Editor, and publisher have definitely contributed to this achievement. With the official IF, authors will be more willing to submit their manuscripts to our journal, seeking recognition of the quality of their scientific work. This may subsequently result in an increase in the IF over the coming years. Still, despite its importance, an increasing IF as such is not the “Holy Grail” we are looking for. Our mission is to provide relevant, up-to-date, and high-quality papers in clinical neuro-oncology that should be of interest to and assist all healthcare providers who care for brain tumor patients and their families. If we are successful in this area, the IF will follow.
