Man-Made Fibers: Polymer Formation Processes
Fibers, pp. 413–429
Abstract
The extraction of the raw materials required to produce polymers is explained for oil, coal and gas as well as cellulose and protein. All relevant polymer synthesis processes (polymerization, polycondensation, polyaddition) are described in detail with many figures regarding the actual polymer formation, the dependency of the degree of polymerization and the molecular weight distribution on the reaction conditions. Grafting and copolymers as well as additivation methods conclude the chapter.
