Abstract

The history, the raw materials and the chemical composition of all relevant ceramic fibers is explained. Typical production processes (e.g. melt spinning, chemical vapor deposition, sol-gel process) are described, properties for the important ceramic fiber typs and applications are outlined. A list of manufacturers concludes the chapter.
