Abstract

ABSTRACT Surface quality is one of the most important quality characteristics of advanced flat steel products. Most quality management systems can deal with thresholds for gauge data or measurements like chemical composition and mechanical properties, but they are lacking the possibility to decide on surface quality. ISRA’s Surface Quality Management System (SQMS) defines the detailed, customer order specific quality corridor for each production step from slab to finished product and realizes the surface quality part. It enables reliable quality decisions in each production step. The Central SIS Monitor guarantees that the surface quality is measured correctly.
