GasNetSim: An Open-Source Package for Gas Network Simulation with Complex Gas Mixture Compositions

Open Source Modelling and Simulation of Energy Systems (OSMSES), pp. 1–6

Abstract

In this work, we present our newly developed open-source gas network simulation tool named GasNetSim. This tool provides users with sufficient functionalities to perform steady-state natural gas network simulations with different gas mixture compositions, thus enabling accurate analysis of the impacts of hydrogen injection on the gas network. Moreover, users have the flexibility to modify this tool and implement their own desired gas mixture modeling approaches. After describing the newly developed tool, we demonstrate the importance of the new features and use a simple test case to illustrate how this tool can be used to simulate and analyze a hydrogen-enriched natural gas system with nodal hydrogen injections.
