SPATIAL MODELLING OF ELECTRICAL LOADS IN DISTRIBUTION GRIDS BASED ON SOCIOECONOMIC DATA
IET conference proceedings., vol. 2021, pp. 2534–2538
Abstract
In the course of the energy transition in Europe, numerous studies examine the use of novel operating strategies and the expansion of distribution grids in order to meet the requirements of the changing supply task. These studies rely on detailed and accurate grid and load models in a high spatial resolution. The required level of detail is usually only available for exemplary research areas. This publication presents a method to model household and commercial loads on the level of individual buildings. As a basis for the geo-referencing, building footprints, points of interest and land uses for the area under investigation are obtained from the open data project OpenStreetMap. This data is combined to georeferenced socioeconomic data in a high spatial resolution including company registries, employment data and household information. Subsequently, consumers are allocated to individual buildings and load time series are assigned. The plausibility of the results is examined on the building level in order to analyse the allocation algorithm in an exemplary application. Additionally, the calculated loads are aggregated to match the supply area of a German distribution grid operator in order to compare the modelled data to measured load time series.
