Workflow Management
Methods and principles in medicinal chemistry, pp. 365–395
Abstract
In the research-based pharmaceutical industry, the development of the solid form of a new active ingredient is an important development topic. Several development phases have to be passed through and many interfaces have to be considered. The correct sequence of the work packages with their dependencies is the subject of this article. Focus is on the consideration of specific workflows in a solid-state laboratory as well as the optimization of daily processes through intelligent workflow management. To continuously develop these workflows further, a regular constructive exchange with all participants, i.e. typically laboratory heads and operators, is of great importance. Using automated systems and automation-supported processes is the state of the art today. This includes the electronic laboratory journal, a database for analytical data and digitalized transfer processes.
