Towards Temperature Control Measures for Polymer Additive Injection Molds

Procedia CIRP, vol. 93, pp. 90–95

Abstract

This paper presents a model to approach the selection of temperature control measures for polymer-made additive injection molds. Such molds are used in manufacturing of close-to-series prototype, but are still limited to small volumes, low production rates and standard polymer materials. Measures of temperature control can increase the applicability of those molds. The measures allow maintaining the optimal process parameters for the desired application. This paper aims to summarise possible measures, their current state of research and argues for a comprehensive model supporting a selection process.
