Determination of Model Parameters*
Abstract
As introduced in Chapter 6 there are numerous reliable models for simulating single chromatographic columns and more complex multi-column processes available. Although also computer power and optimization software are a certain bottleneck, the main obstacle for the use of simulation software is the availability of validated model parameters. Several of them need to be determined for the separation problem of interest experimentally, which can be a time consuming and expensive step. This chapter describes the most suitable methods for determining both thermodynamic and kinetic parameters.
