BOTTLEBRUSH POLYMERS

Espacenet Family 89474017

Abstract

Provided herein are bottlebrush polymers and macromolecules including such polymers, comprising: a monodisperse polymer backbone; and defined bottlebrush sidechains. The polymer backbone is a polypeptide comprising amino acid residues with an amine moiety on the sidechain of each amino acid residue. Each of the defined bottlebrush sidechains is attached to the polymer backbone at the amine moiety of each of the respective amino acid residues; and the defined bottlebrush sidechains comprise at least two blocks of polypeptide or similar, wherein, in each said block, the polypeptide, polypeptoid or polypept(o)ide is functionalised proximate to the end of its chain with a reactive group or ligand, wherein adjacent blocks of the at least two blocks do not comprise the same reactive group or ligand. Also provided are methods of making such bottlebrush polymers, as well as methods of forming bottlebrush polymers with a longer or branched backbone, macromolecules comprising such bottlebrush polymers made by such methods, and uses thereof.
