Assemblies and methods
Abstract
A fluidic assembly, particularly for an NMR spectrometer, comprises a flow cell 36 arranged in a measurement region, the flow cell constructed of at least one fluoropolymer material and including a channel, the channel containing a sample segment 52 that is carried in a fluorinated fluid carrier 54 which is immiscible with the sample. The carrier fluid may be a fluorocarbon oil which wets the walls of the flow cell, preventing contamination and keeping the sample segment together. The flow cell may be two discrete fluidly connected components. The fluoropolymer may be polychlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE) and the sample may be in a solvent or deuterated solvent. The flow cell may be a microfluidic device and may include plural parallel channels. The sample, the fluorinated carrier and the length of the channel may be selected to correspond to a Bond number that corresponds to the sample staying intact as it is carried through the channel.
