WDM comb source-based optical link with improved optical amplification
Abstract
Provided is a receiver (RX) for an optical link, configured to decode at least one data stream (c1-c4) from an optical signal (IN) transmitted by a transmitter (TX) of the optical link, wherein the optical signal (IN) comprises a plurality of optical carriers having different frequencies (f). The plurality of optical carriers have been modulated by respective modulators (FSM, RRM, MZM) according to the data streams (c1-c4). The receiver (TX) comprises a polarization splitting element (PSC) having one input port and two output ports, at least one resonant add-drop multiplexer (ADM) tuned to atleast one optical carrier modulated according to the data streams (c1-c4), and at least one detector (PD) converting the light intensity into an electrical signal, in which light from two output portsof the polarization splitting element (PSC) is coupled into the resonant add-drop multiplexer (ADM) in opposite directions, and light is coupled from the resonant add-drop multiplexer (ADM) to the atleast one detector (PD) in two opposite directions.
